What our book groups are reading for July

Even if you can't attend a book discussion, pick up a copy of a book group title for your summer reading enjoyment!

The Fiction Book Group will be discussing The Cookbook Collector by Allegra Goodman at it's July 6 meeting at 6:30 pm at the Newark Library.

The Miller Book Group's July selection is Killer Angels by Michael Shaara, winner of the 1975 Pulitzer Prize. Robert E. Lee and James Longstreet tell the Southern view of the battle at Gettysburg while Colonel Joshua Chamberlain and General John Buford present the Northern view. They will meet on Wednesday, July 13th at 5:30 pm at the Emerson Miller Library.


The Booked to Death group will be discussing Kwei Quartey's Wife of the Gods on Wednesday, July 27 at 6:30 pm at the Newark Library.

The Bookmark Group at the Hebron Library will be discussing When Crickets Cry by Charles Martin on Thursday, July 28 at 2 pm.

Kirkus Review: Christian-fiction writer Martin (The Dead Don't Dance, not reviewed) chronicles the personal tragedy of a Georgia heart surgeon.


The Library Ladies book discussion at the Buckeye Lake Library will feature The Walk by Richard Paul Evans for its July selection. No meetings! To participate in this group, just check out the book and pick up a survey card to complete and return with the book.

Kirkus Review: From Evans (The Sunflower, 2005, etc.), the first installment of a new series starring a Seattle adman who loses everything and embarks on a soul-cleansing cross-country trek.

Copies of the books are available one month before each meeting.
